Questions about Cornhole?
Common Game Formats
Cornhole is game that is played by two teams made up of either one or two players each. Players at the same end of the court alternate throwing bags at a board placed 27 feet away in attempt to make the bag into the hole. One point is awarded for a bag that comes to rest on the board. Three points are awarded for a bag that drops in the hole. Net scoring applies (i.e., Team 1 scores 6 while Team 2 scores 4…Team 1 is awarded 2 points for that round). First team to 21 points wins.
Singles
It’s all on you. Mono y Mono. Players play from both sides of the court until someone reaches 21
Cornhole boards dimensions are standard and made of a 4 foot x 2 foot flat top with a 6 inch hole towards the top side of the board. The front of the board shall be 3-4 inches off the ground while the back of the board must be 12” off the ground. All different types of wood and finishes can be used but all will impact the speed of bags as they slide along the surface.
Switcholio
The most social of formats. You will play a different, randomly assigned partner each game.
Cornhole bags are NOT all created equally. Different materials and fillings create a different reaction when a bag lands on a board. They all must be 6" inches square but after that things get interesting. Certain bags are made to be “sticky” and have a low speed rating while others are made to be “slick” with a high speed rating. Many bags will have multiple speed ratings depending on what side you are throwing (one “sticky” side, one “slick” side).
Blind Draw
You will be randomly assigned a partner and you will play with this person throughout the entirety of the event.
The delivery of a cornhole bag is where all the magic happens. You can throw it like a frisbee. You can lob it like a softball. Hell, you can shoot it like a basketball. As long as it goes in the hole you’re good to go. The majority of experienced players strive to perfect a flat spin in order to take advantage of their bags speed rating on a consistent basis. Pick your delivery sytle and repeat, repeat, repeat.
